Upcycling - Oma's 50ies Rock /// Upcycling - Grandmas 50ies Skirt

                            

Hallo zusammen,

nach meinem letzten Projekt bin ich in Upcycling-Laune, was ja unter Nachhaltigkeits-Gesichtspunkten eine super Sache ist!

Wie toll, dass meine Oma in ihrem Schrank noch solch ein Vintage-Schätzen hatte, welches sie selbst nicht mehr trug, aber zu schade zum Wegwerfen fand. Wie wahr! Das Kostüm besteht insgesamt aus einem Kastenjäckchen, einer Kurzarmbluse und einem Stiftrock im gleichen petrolfarbenen Wollstoff.

Diese Teile sollen später mal ein 3-teiliges Ensemble in meiner Größe werden - bis dahin ist es aber noch ein weiter Weg.

In diesem Post seht ihr zunächst einmal, wie ich den Rock auf meine Figur angepasst habe. Da ich genug Stoff hatte, wollte ich einen A-Linie Schnitt daraus machen - Stiftröcke habe ich genug.

Folgende Schritte waren erforderlich:

- Bund lösen
- Futter entfernen
- Weite von Rockteil, Futter und Bund wegnehmen
- alles wieder zusammen nähen

Witzigerweise passt der Rock sogar gut zu meinem (gekauften) Hugo Blazer, sodass ich auch zunächst keine Eile hatte, die weiteren 2 Teile umzunähen. Dies soll aber spätestens zum nächsten Sommer erledigt sein.

Hello everybody,

I'm in an upcycling mood, which is a great thing from a sustainability point of view.

How awesome that my grandma still had such a vintage treasure in her closet, which she no longer wore, but she thought that it is too beautiful to throw it away. True! 

The costume consists of a jacket, a short-sleeved blouse and a pencil skirt in the same petrol-colored wool fabric.

These parts will later become a 3-piece ensemble in my size - but until then it is still a long way to go.

In this post you can see how I adjusted the skirt to my figure. Since I had enough fabric, I wanted to make an a-line version out of it - I have enough pencil skirts.

The following steps were required:

- release the waistband

- remove the lining 

- take away the width of skirt, lining and waistband

- sew everything together again

Funnily, the skirt matches very well with my (bought) Hugo Blazer, so I was in no hurry to change the other 2 pieces. But this should be done by the next summer at the latest.

Sommerkleid # 6 /// Upcycling Men's Shirt

Das Projekt "ausrangiertes Herrenhemd in etwas Neues upcyclen" hatte ich schon länger auf meiner Näh-Agenda. Doch gab es dringendere Projekte im Rekordsommer 2018 - nämlich erstmal Sommerkleider im Akkord nähen... "Zufällig" entstand aber auch aus dem Herrenhemd ein Kleid - was für ein "Zufall". Ich hatte jedoch erst einen gerafften Rock im Sinn (siehe Drapierung unten). In meiner Vorstellung sah diese Kombination mit einem hachdünnen Baumwollstoff im Farbverlauf (weiß zu hellblau) gut aus, an Püppi aber nicht mehr. Daher entscheid ich mich für einen geraden Rock aus weißem spitzenähnlichen Baumwollstoffstoff und bin sehr glücklich damit. Das Kleid ist auch das erstes Stück, welches ich abweichend vom verwendeten Schnittmuster mit einem ganz neuen Design versehen habe.

There still was left the "upcycling men's shirt" project on my sewing to do list. During this hot summer there were more urgent projects first - namely sewing summer dresses... "Coincidentally" I upcycled the men's shirt in a dress as well. However, I had a gathered skirt in mind to match it with the upcycled bodice (see draping below). In my imagination, this combination with a thin cotton fabric in the color gradient (white to light blue) looked good, but on the manaquin not at all. That's why I opt for a straight skirt made of white lace-like cotton fabric and I'm very happy with it. The dress is also the first piece, which I have provided deviating from the pattern into a whole new design.

Upcycling Blazer

Diesen Blazer hatte ich mir vor Jahren für formellere Anlässe zur Kombination mit festlichen Kleidern insbesondere aufgrund der neutralen beigen Farbe, welche auch zu bunteren Kleidern passt, gekauft. Die Rüschen an der vorderen unteren Mitte des Vorderteils hatte ich allerdings noch nie sehr gemocht. Auch fand ich die asymmetrische Form (Vorderteil ist länger als Rückteil) besonders in Kombination mit A-Linie Kleidern unpassend. Was liegt daher also näher, als die ungeliebten Details des Blazers einfach zu entfernen?! Gesagt - getan. Mit dem Ergebnis bin ich sehr zufrieden und trage den Blazer nun auch wieder gerne im Büro - insbesondere in diesem Rekordsommer 2018 sind 3/4-Ärmel ein Segen.

Years ago, I bought this blazer to combine it with festive dresses, especially because of the neutral beige color, which matches with even colorful dresses. I had never liked the ruffles at the front lower middle of the front piece. Seccondly, I found the asymmetrical shape (front is longer than the back) especially in combination with A-line dresses inappropriate. So I simply removed the unloved blazer details. Said and done. I am very happy with the result. Now I like wearing the blazer again, even in the office. Especially during this record summer 2018, 3/4 sleeves are a blessing.

Upcycling | Polo- zu Serafino-Kragen /// Upcycling | polo collar into serafino collar

 

Ich habe schon immer das Muster dieser Bluse geliebt, weil es mich an ein Paisley-Muster erinnert. ABER ich fand die Bluse, welche schon etwas älter ist, mit dem Polokragen nicht mehr tragbar. Deswegen entschied ich mich, den vorhandenen Kragen abzutrennen und hieraus ein Schrägband für einen geschlossenen Serafinokragen herzustellen. Hierfür benutzte ich einfach Stecknadeln, um den Stoff entsprechend zu bügeln. Der Teil des Kragens, welchen ich verwendet hatte, war bereits mit Vlieseline verstärkt, sodass ich mir hierum keine Gedanken machen musste.

I always loved the design of this blouse (which is quite old). It reminds me of paisley and I love paisley design because it is very elegant. BUT I think the big polo collar destroys the blouse and make it not wearable nowadays.
That's why I decited to cut off the collar and create a clean serafino collar instead. Now I can wear it again!
Therefore I cut off the fabric of the polo collar and made my own bias tape by using pins. The collar part I used had already vlieseline on it so I don't had to worry about this.

 

Marlene´s Transformation

Mein größtes Problem beim Hosenkauf ist, dass Anzughosen von der Stange regelmäßig ca. 5 -10 cm zu kurz sind. Darüber hinaus bieten die meisten Produzenten Hosen lediglich ab Größe 36 an - ich benötige Gr. 32/34.
Diese Marlenehose habe ich für kleines Geld bei h&m gefunden. Von der Länge her passte diese unter der Voraussetzung, dass man ein wenig vom Saum für die Länge hinzugibt. Allerdings gefiel mir der Schnitt nicht.
Kurzerhand kürzte ich daher den Bund auf Hüfthöhe und nahm Weite von den Beinen weg, sodass ich nun eine neue Anzughose mit geradem Schnitt besitze. Das ging deutlich schneller, als eine neue Hose zu nähen.
Solltet ihr solch eine Transformation auch mal versuchen wollen, achtet bitte immer darauf, dass ihr eine Hose auswählt, bei der wenigstens der Schritt passt.

When it comes to buying dresstrousers my biggest problem is, that they are always 5-10 cm too short. Besides that, most of the trousers you can buy are size 36+, but I need 32/34.
This Marlene Trouser I found at h&m. The lenght was just right but I didn't like the Marlene-style.
That's why I transformed it into a normal straight pair of dresstrousers by cutting off the width of the legs and lower the crotch.
